IMPACT researchers are modelling the effects of climate change on key pests to improve protection of biomass for carbon sequestration and bioenergy in woodlands in Ireland and Wales.

The project will also provide specific pest risk profiling and assessment of those posing the greatest threats to tree growth and survival (the ‘hit list’).

This integrated approach uses cutting edge technology to refine models specifically for Ireland and Wales and to help determine which pests will increase in importance.
